Public Speaker & Advocate

Monica lives with her husband and two of her four children in Bedford Hts, Ohio. She is a graduate of Tiffin University with a BA in Organizational Management and a graduate of Cleveland State University with a Master’s in Sociology.  She works as a Sociology professor at Cuyahoga Community College in addition to having the job of completing dialysis treatments five times a week.

She is President of Hosanna House Enterprises and founder of the Monica A. Starks Foundation. She is an advocate for Kidney Disease Awareness and speaks in the community about kidney disease prevention.

Monica has a powerful testimony of determination, faith, illness and modern day miracles. Her story speaks of living life to the fullest no matter what is thrown your way because everyone is struggling with something.

According to the Center for Disease Control, Kidney Disease is affecting over 20 million Americans.  Unfortunately, most symptoms do not surface until about 90% of kidney loss has happened. Without testing there is no way to determine  if you are in the early stages. Monica’s goal is to promote awareness and early testing. Monica believes that awareness for Kidney Disease should be as prevalent as it is for breast and prostate cancer.
